Little Digital Library

The Question

Children in low-connectivity, underserved communities often have no access to educational content in a language they actually understand — most digital learning tools assume a fast connection and English, neither of which is a safe assumption where the need is greatest.

Desired Ability

Kids should be able to open a library of age-appropriate reading, math, language, and life-skills content in their own language, on a shared or personal device, whether or not they're online.

Our Response

The Little Digital Library is a mobile app built around Tula, a librarian-turtle guide, offering Read/Listen/Watch/Play content across six categories — Reading + Writing, Numbers + Math, Learning English, Everyday Life Skills, Healthy + Safe, and About Our World — in 11 languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Swahili, Khmer, Indonesian, and Burmese), with downloadable content and a personalized library card.

Notes

Full project narrative is being drafted. Deployment stage, locations, and partners will publish once confirmed — see How We Work for how we document projects as they progress.
